We provide local advocates & women’s groups with trainings & support to raise awareness among women of their rights & how to access the justice system & ensure that these rights are protected.
In the struggle for human rights in Turkey, Kurdish women suffer from double-discrimination, particularly in rural areas, & face barriers that prevent them from accessing the justice system available to them. They face harassment & violence from both in public life & within the home & are often discouraged from filing complaints against perpetrators of domestic violence & other offences because of a lack of awareness of their rights, or a fear of not being taken seriously.
KHRP trains human rights defenders, advocates & civil society representatives & gives them tools to train others & raise awareness. Human rights abuses against women are investigated & reported on. KHRP also observes domestic trials against women.
This project will encourage women & men’s participation in the protection and promotion of women’s rights. It will facilitate women to understand their rights, gain redress for human rights violations and ultimately seeks to prevent abuses occurring.
